A restricted Facebook ad account may affect only one asset in Business Manager. Open Account Quality and read the exact notice: Meta distinguishes between an ad account, a business portfolio, a Page and an administrator's personal profile. Establish the scope before creating accounts or launching new campaigns.
Facebook ad account restriction: the first 30 minutes
- Sign in from a familiar device and open Account Quality at facebook.com/accountquality. Select the business and read the status of every asset. Record the exact wording, date, ad-account name and ID, and whether a “Request review” button appears.
- Establish which asset is affected. A restricted ad account normally stops payment and ad delivery from that account. A restricted business portfolio can affect roles, Pages, pixels and several ad accounts. A restricted personal administrator profile is a separate issue and can remove your access to every asset you manage.
- Take screenshots of the status, notices and rejected ads. Keep recent invoices, payment receipts and verification correspondence as well. They are part of your timeline; they are not a reason to upload documents the screen has not requested.
- Ask another authorised administrator whether they see the same status. Keep your password private; roles and permissions are checked in Business Settings. A second administrator can help establish the scope without working around the restriction with new assets.
A screenshot of an error without the affected asset's name is rarely enough. The difference between an ad account, a business portfolio and a personal profile determines which review path applies. For more on restrictions, see our guide to sanction types.
What commonly triggers a restriction
The notice in Account Quality is the starting point. It may point to a particular ad, payment, identity check or account-safety concern. Do not infer the cause solely because the last campaign was rejected.
One common trigger is a breach of advertising rules: a prohibited product, a misleading claim, improper use of personal attributes, a problematic landing page, or reuse of a rejected creative. Read the relevant rule and check the ad, website and copy together. Our advertising rules guide can start the internal review.
Payment can be another trigger. A failed card, an unusual payment-method change, a disputed transaction, or a mismatch between business and billing details can lead to an additional check. Do not add a series of cards as experiments. Confirm that the method is yours, look for an outstanding payment, and see whether the Meta interface asks for verification rather than a replacement card.
Meta may ask to verify identity or the business. Upload a document only through the screen you opened in the app or Business Settings, when it is requested. The name, address and company details should match what you are verifying. Someone else's document or an edited file creates a new problem.
There can also be signals of unusual activity: sudden role changes, logins from unfamiliar places, automated actions, or a connection to another restricted asset. Review people with access, connected partners and active sessions. Do not send a password, a two-factor authentication code or a backup code in chat. A legitimate case review does not require them.
How to submit a request for review
The “Request review” button applies to the specific decision you see. Use it after fixing an obvious problem. A general question about why ads are not running will not clarify the decision.
- Open the restriction in Account Quality and check for a stated deadline or extra step. Follow that instruction; do not assume a deadline for another Meta product applies here.
- For a decision about an ad, give its ID and state exactly what you changed, such as removing a claim, correcting a destination URL or switching off a product. State only corrections you have checked.
- If it concerns payment or identity, answer only the fields and document requests Meta presents. Briefly describe your connection to the business and ad account if the form allows it.
- Keep the request reference and monitor notifications and the work inbox. Do not send the same explanation repeatedly unless the interface tells you to submit again.
State which asset is restricted, which decision you contest, what you corrected and what evidence you attached. Emotional pressure and copied, lengthy text do not clarify the issue. For a restriction affecting a commercially important business or an unclear official route, we can prepare the facts in your case and help organise the next action.
What not to do while you wait
Opening a new ad account, moving the campaign to another Business Manager or adding a new personal profile simply to keep advertising can be costly. Systems can connect those actions to an attempt to evade a restriction and spread the problem to other assets. Wait for the response through the current process or follow the instruction shown on screen.
Do not buy a “ready-made” Business Manager or pay people in comments who claim to be Meta support. They often ask for access, a card, a sign-in code, or promise a direct line to an internal team. A random chat profile cannot authorise you on Meta's behalf. We are not Meta and do not promise a result.
While a check is active, avoid editing dozens of campaigns at random. Make a list of changes with a date and reason. At an agency, tell the client which asset is affected and who has access. Business account work needs organised roles and a clear timeline, without shared passwords.
Preventing the next restriction
Keep at least two genuine administrators with appropriate roles. Do not add people who do not work on the business. Review partner and employee access when an engagement ends. Check the payment method in advance and keep company details consistent across the business, billing and verification.
Before each campaign, compare the text, image and landing page with the applicable rules. Health, financial, political and sensitive subjects need particular care. Automatic approval is not proof that everything is allowed. An archive of decisions and corrections helps avoid repeating the same problem.
